Actions Speak Louder Than Fears: Get Out Of Your Head And Out Of Your Own Way

I cannot tell you how much time I have wasted letting fear or that dreaded imposter syndrome hold me back. I have been in the virtual admin game for almost four years, and I truly feel like I’ve just started to not stand in my own way in the last six months. That’s three and a half years of not letting myself succeed.

I know I’m not alone in this because most people I talk to suffer from some kind of imposter syndrome or self-doubt. Social media can be a game-changer when it comes to organic marketing and building a community for your services or brand. But it also serves as a constant reminder of what everyone else is doing that you’re NOT doing. We all know that "Instagram is a highlight reel," but it’s hard not to get sucked into it—thinking that everyone else is more successful because they’re more talented, more confident, or just naturally better at this whole entrepreneurship thing.

If I’ve learned one thing from my time in this industry, it’s that yes, there are people out there who are better than you. That’s why they’re killing it. BUT there are also a ton of people out there who are just as talented—or even less talented—who simply don’t care. They don’t sit at home thinking:

  • “I’m not good enough.”

  • “I’m not skilled enough.”

  • “Why would anyone hire me?”

They just do it. They put themselves out there, speak confidently, and get business.

Of course, there are other things that get in the way of success. Mindset alone isn’t the only barrier to growing a business. Let’s be real—it’s a tough economy, and running a business is not for the faint of heart. People aren’t giving up because they don’t care; they’re giving up because sometimes, it just isn’t sustainable.

But if you know deep down that YOU are the only thing standing in your own way, let’s change that.

How to Battle Imposter Syndrome as an Entrepreneur

If you’ve ever felt like you’re not qualified, not experienced enough, or not "ready" to grow your business, you’re dealing with imposter syndrome. And guess what? Most entrepreneurs feel this way at some point. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t? Taking action despite the fear.

Here’s how to stop self-sabotaging your business and finally step into your success.

1. Recognize When You’re Stuck in a Negative Thought Loop

The first step to battling imposter syndrome is calling it out when it happens.

  • If you catch yourself thinking, “I’m not good enough,” replace it with “I am always learning and improving.”

  • Keep a "wins" list—track every successful client project, testimonial, or small victory in your business.v

You are qualified simply because you’re out here doing the work.

2. Stop Waiting for Perfect – Take Action Now

Perfectionism is just fear wearing a different outfit.

  • Stop tweaking your website for the 100th time and launch it.

  • Stop overthinking that Instagram post and hit publish.

  • Stop waiting to be an "expert" before you start offering a service—you learn by doing.

The people you admire? They didn’t wait until they were 100% ready. They just got started.

3. Curate Your Social Media to Inspire, Not Discourage

It’s easy to compare yourself to other entrepreneurs and feel like you’re behind. But remember:

  • You’re only seeing their highlight reel, not the behind-the-scenes struggles.

  • Unfollow accounts that trigger self-doubt.

  • Follow people who inspire you and remind you what’s possible.

Your growth is not measured by someone else’s success.

4. Price Your Services with Confidence

One of the biggest signs of imposter syndrome in business owners? Underpricing.

  • You are not "too expensive"—the right clients will see your value.

  • Charging more attracts better clients who respect your expertise.

  • If you don’t believe in your worth, why should a client?

Raise your prices. You deserve to be compensated fairly.

5. Surround Yourself with People Who Lift You Up

Entrepreneurship can feel lonely, but you don’t have to do it alone.

  • Join entrepreneur mastermind groups or small business communities.

  • Get an accountability partner who keeps you motivated.

  • Follow successful entrepreneurs who are open about their struggles.

Being around the right people helps you see yourself through a more confident lens.

6. Fake Confidence Until You Believe It

Confidence isn’t something you wait to have—it’s something you build through action.

  • Speak about your business like a leader.

  • Show up online like the successful entrepreneur you want to be.

  • Make business decisions from a place of growth, not fear.

At the end of the day, people buy from those who believe in themselves.

7. Trust the Process – No One Has It All Figured Out

Even six-figure business owners have moments of self-doubt. The difference?

  • They don’t let it stop them.

  • They keep learning and improving.

  • They focus on progress, not perfection.

Success isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about showing up and doing the work.

If you’ve been holding yourself back because of imposter syndrome, self-doubt, or fear of failure, this is your reminder: You are more capable than you think.

The most successful entrepreneurs aren’t necessarily the most talented. They’re just the ones who kept going.

This year, stop overthinking and start taking action. Your future self will thank you.
